TBA's Green Building Council meets this Thursday (July 9) at 11:30 am at the Myers Park Community Room (912 Myers Park Road) with an excellent luncheon program on Emergency Standby Power Generators presented byTAW® Power Systems and TBA member Power On, LCC and sponsored by the City of Tallahassee Natural Gas Utility. The event is free to Green Council members and $10 for non-Council members. Everyone understands the need for backup power to keep homes and businesses from coming to a stand-still in a power outage which is why TAW Power Systems distributes only KOHLER® Power Systems-tested and regulated generator sets and accessories. TAW's Cyndi Richards will explain the benefits in detail and John and Vicki Cuniff (see photo) of Power Onwill be on hand to offer their insights and expertise. Power On specializes in the sale of residential and small commercial standby generators and is a licensed and certified Kohler dealer.
TBA members have an opportunity to make a real impact on the lives of others in our community this Friday (July 10) when Prime Meridian Bank, United Partners for Human Services and TBA host a Blood Donation Drivefrom 7 am to Noon at the Prime Meridian branch at 1897 Capital Circle Drive NE. Appointments are recommendedand can be made by calling Caroline Arrant at 907-2385 or emailing her at . For more information about the drive - why it's vital that you help and how you need to prepare before you donate - click here.

TBA is pleased to announce that the husband-wife team of Tom and Susan Vieth of Vieth Construction will build our 2015 Showcase Homeand offer it for public viewing the second weekend in December. Like last year, TBA plans to partner with Toys-for-Tots and use the Showcase Home - which will be built in the Centerville Conservationcommunity - as a drop-off spot for people to donate gifts for kids just in time for Christmas. TBA started the Showcase Home concept in 2014 when Premier Fine Homes built a beautiful custom home in Buckhead, which drew over 800 visitors and resulted in more than 500 gifts for Toys-for-Tots. In addition, TBA's Board of Directorspersonally donated 33 bicycles. It's fitting that Vieth Construction would build the signature home in this the company's 25th year in business. The Vieths (in photo) have built a solid reputation and a long list of raving fans through their hands-on approach to custom-home construction. Tom has served for many years on the TBA Board of Directors as well as President in 2000-2001. In 1998, his peers at TBA elected him Builder of the Year, an honor he cherishes to this day. Not one to rest on his laurels, Tom was an active member of TBA's Parade of Homes™ Committee this year and has accepted the challenge to chair the association's signature event in 2016.
This week's TBA Member Profile features Prime Meridian Bank as the
institution that financed the association's 2014 Showcase Home, served as a Silver Sponsor of the Parade of Homes™, provides leadership to TBA's Board of Directors in the person of Relationship Manager/Vice President Philip Pomeroy, and hosts the association's monthly Board meeting/lunches. Prime Meridian's TBA involvement comes with the enthusiastic endorsement of top executives Sammie Dixon (President/CEO) and Chris Jensen (Executive Vice President/Senior Lender) and includes key players such as (left to right in photos) Pomeroy, mortgage department leader and former TBA Associate Member of the Year Laura Jo Hewitt, and mortgage loan officer April Brueckheimer Dean. They share an optimistic outlook about the Tallahassee real estate market. "For the last two and a half years the residential construction market has been steadily improving and overall, things are continuing to trend in the right direction," said Pomeroy.
