TBA thanks loyal member Centennial Bank for sponsoring the Hard Hat Happy Hour in late May at its Thomasville Road location and also extends its congratulations toKimberly Smiley, who has been promoted to the position ofMarket President at Centennial Bank. Kim is a 14-year banking and finance veteran who in her new role will oversee the operations of six Centennial branches in Tallahassee and Quincy. "Centennial Bank is currently active in commercial lending to builders for construction loans and several development projects
throughout the North Florida Panhandle," said Smiley. "In addition, we have an experienced residential mortgage department with many strong builder and Realtor® relationships that provides new loans to homeowners in Leon County and throughout the southeast. We can offer products ranging from first-time home buyer programs to standard conventional, FHA, VA, USDA and Jumbo financing. In addition, one of our huge benefits as a local bank is that we also offer portfolio loans when a solution mortgage is needed which occurs with local authority for approval." Smiley is optimistic about the local economic outlook. "We continue to see improvement in real estate sales," said Smiley. "The uncertainty that was perceived in the market seems to have passed which is evidenced by activity levels for home sales and new home construction. It appears that home inventory levels that were once thought be in excess have now flattened out in most price ranges." Kim is a graduate of FSU and active with Leadership Tallahassee, Goodwood Museum & Gardens, GreaterTallahassee Chamber of Commerce, United Way of the Big Bend, and the Big Bend Business Exchange. Good luck to Kim!

Builders Care - the newly-formed, community-service arm of theTallahassee Builders Association (TBA) - has begun work to remodel aTallahassee home that will re-unite three sisters in their 90s who have been separated since being displaced from their previous home. "What better way to kick off Builders Care than with a project that brings a beautiful family together
again," said Vicki O'Neil, Chair of the
TBA BuildersCare Committee and an administrator of the natural gas program for the City of
Tallahassee. O'Neil said that over 30 TBA members (see photo with TBA volunteers, left to right,
builder Bill Kimberl, supplier
Randy Burns of
Norandex, and
builderBrian Will) covering the gamut of construction disciplines and skills are providing products and services to the home at no charge to the sisters. They are working under the supervision of an award-wining professional
builder,
H.R. "Sonny" Phillips. "In addition to the work being performed by our TBA members, we are so pleased to welcome (
this Saturday morning,
June 13) the staff and volunteers from 88.1 WAY-FM's Live (Service) Out program," said O'Neil. "It's a great partnership and one we look forward to nurturing as we do more projects that help needy people in our community." The sisters -
Tillie Searcy Colson, Autie Searcy McCallum, and Margaret Searcy Hammell - hail from Greensboro but grew up and went to school in
Tallahassee. All three worked for the State of Florida, including McCallum, who was with HRS for 37 years and Colson who was a state data processing supervisor for 35 years. The sisters lived together on Gaines Street before they moved to the Raa Avenue home that they had to vacate due to the severe need for repairs.
